We admit children to Reception each September. Worcester County Council oversees all admissions to Reception and if you would like your child to have a place you will need to make an application online directly to county. (We do not control any school admissions other than those to Nursery).
If you are interested in a place we recommend that you visit us. To do this please phone the school office on 01562 850397 and arrange an appointment. Due to the current restrictions around visitors to school, visit times are limited to after school. Alternatively, you can take a look at our Early Years pages on the website to get a feel for the school and what it has to offer. Applications usually open in September (a year before starting Reception) and the closing date is in the January before your child would start. You will be informed if you are successful or not around Easter. It is very important that you get your application in on time.
If your child is currently at another school and you are interested in him/her coming to Cookley, in the first instance please phone our school office to see if we have a place in that year group for an appointment to visit us. We will then be able to talk to you about your needs and discuss the admissions process from then on.
Parents apply directly to school for a nursery place for their child. We have 26 morning and 26 afternoon places. Children are admitted once they turn three. Funding is available the term after their third birthday. Children can be admitted once they turn three before the funding but the place has to be self-funded. However, you need to note that having a child in our nursery does not give you automatic entry to our Reception class - parents still have to apply for a Reception place.
At the start of the term, after children turn three, they are currently entitled to 15 hours of free childcare. These hours can be taken across the week between the hours of 8:40 and 3:10pm. Our wraparound care is available from 7:30am for Breakfast Club and until 5:30pm for After School Club. Some parents may be entitled to 30 hours of free childcare. Please visit https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk to find out if you are eligible.
If you are interested in a nursery place for your child we recommend that you come to visit us to look round. You will need to phone the school office on 01562 850397 and arrange an appointment. If you want a place you then complete an application form which we will keep on file.
We hold induction meetings before the children start nursery. We will phone you and invite you to a meeting about half a term before your child will start.
