Class work

English: Coming Home

This week, we are starting our new sequence based on 'Coming Home' by Michael Morpurgo; specifically, the film adaptation created as a Waitrose Christmas advert. Link: https://vimeo.com/191456680 . The children will enjoy a mince pie while watching the clip, discuss and gather vocabulary, and then they will move onto honing their skills in sentence stacking lessons.

Maths: time

If you know your child struggles with telling the time, please support them at home as much as possible.

Skills:

  • reading the time on both analogue and digital clocks
  • read and record in 12hr and 24hr time
  • converting between units of time
  • calculating durations of time
  • solving a range of problems in contexts which involve time.

Science: Phases of the Moon

We will swiftly complete our work based on international time and then move onto studying the phases of the moon.

Art: Art and Design Skills

In the first of two lessons, the children creatively arrange a collection of sweet wrappers to draw, firstly sketching a basic outline of each to get the layout and proportions right and then adding the detail of the lettering, shapes and illustrations before colouring it in. Thank you to all those who brought in wrappers from home.
