This week, the most important thing to do is to talk to your child about their experiences on their first day in Reception Class. This is such an important and special day in their lives. How did they feel? Who did they meet? What did they see? What did they enjoy? What are they excited to do next time they come?

In class, we discussed the three things that we are all going to try and do in Reception. The poster below is displayed in our classroom. You might like to talk to your child about these things, celebrating how kind they are, how important it is to be truthful and discussing the amazing things they have already achieved in their lives by trying their best.

In class, we used the CBeebies Hand Washing Song to practise this important skill. You can find it below and may like to practise this skill further at home.

Moving forwards and after the Transition Period, I will be setting weekly Phonics and Maths Home Learning as well as uploading other activities and ideas you might like to try at home to support your child with their learning. Your child will also receive Phonics Reading books and a Library book to take home each week (more information on how this is to be managed in line with COVID regulations to follow). Please let us know via Tapestry, how your child gets on with their Home Learning. We love to see what they have been getting up to and this provides us with a really valuable insight to them as learners outside of the classroom.

We all hope your child has a super first day in Reception and cannot wait to share many more days of learning and discovery together!
