Home Learning Activities

Hi everybody! Miss Bagnall here. I am so excited to be your new teacher and to get to know you all. On Tapestry I have put a little "hello" message in your journals so that you can all see me and what I sound like if you have not met me in person yet. This is me:

The first thing you will learn about me is that I LOVE BOOKS! Books and stories are so important. They help develop speaking, listening, literacy skills, imagination, understanding of the world, empathy and so much more. One of the books that I really loved when I was in nursery was “The Tiger Who Came to Tea” by Judith Kerr so I thought it would be nice if we did some learning based on it this week. Below is a video of the book if you do not have it at home. I have also uploaded me reading the book to your Tapestry journals for you and your child to enjoy together.

(I do not own the rights to this book but if you would like to buy it, it is available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tiger-Who-Came-Tea/dp/0007215991/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1587725858&sr=1-1)

If you like this book, you may also like these other stories about Tigers which you could watch on YouTube:

  • I Don’t Want to Go to Bed by Julie Sykes

  • There’s a Tiger in the Garden by Lizzie Stewart

  • Augustus and his Smile by Catherine Rayner

  • Never Tickle a Tiger by Pamela Butchart

Please find this week's activities below. There is no pressure to do them all. Pick the ones which best suit your child, yourself and the resources you have. I would recommend that you attempt at least one from each section. Where it fits, these activities have been linked to ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea.’
