This week, our jungle theme is taking a rather snappy turn as we focus on the book "The Selfish Crocodile" by Faustin Charles. This book allows us to explore friendship, caring, valuing our differences and looking after our teeth!

In Maths, we will be continuing our learning about subtraction and focusing on writing subtraction calculations. We talk about subtracting as "taking something away" and we call the written calculations 'number sentences.' We will also be solving problems in real contexts using the words 'what if...' e.g. 'what if I had 5 bananas but a monkey came and stole two of them?'
Below you will find some subtraction challenges to have a go at together, that feed on from last week's practical home learning challenges (if you did not complete those, I would recommend looking back to last week's Home Learning instead of completing these). There are two different levels of challenge. Talk with your child about how they might work it out and then have a go at writing the whole things as a number sentence e.g. 5 - 3 = 2.
Good luck and happy subtracting!
Topic Home Learning
Watch this video together about the importance of cleaning your teeth and eating foods which protect your teeth. Talk about how you brush your teeth and brush them together, setting a timer for two minutes and making sure you brush every surface of every tooth. There is even a song below to learn and sing together. You could write a list of foods and drinks that are good for your teeth and not good for your teeth, using your Phonics skills to help you.
Let us know what you get up to on Tapestry. We love to see!
