Today we are looking at line symmetry in 2D shapes.

Remember, a shape is symmetrical if you can divide it into matching halves.

You can explore symmetry by folding paper shapes or by using a mirror on the line of symmetry.

Try the activity.

Now choose a 2D shape and record all of it's properties.

How many sides, corners and lines of symmetry does it have?

Can you tell me anything else about it?

Extension: Think about the word: EXIT. How many lines of symmetry are in each letter?
