Today, we are going to do some work on weight looking at more than 1kg and less than 1kg. Here is a video clip showing people using scales to weigh different things.

With the help of a grown up, you can start by looking in your kitchen cupboard to find items that weight exactly 1kg, less than 1kg and more than 1kg. You should be able to find the weight of each item on the label eg baked beans, sugar, flour, tinned soup, cereal etc. Can you group these items and label each group? I would love to see pictures of your groups on the blog.

Have a go at this game on Espresso. In this game, you need to estimate the weight (mass) of different objects.

I have also assigned an activity on mass (weight) on Mathletics.
