Art
Today you are going to be experimenting with media.
Firstly, ask your child to look at the pieces of art in the slideshow below and ask the following questions (they have practiced talking about pieces of artwork in class):
-What colours has the artist used?
-What shapes can you see?
-How are the pieces similar/different?
-What media (i.e pencils, crayons, paints, pastels , charcoal, chalk, felt pens etc) have been used?
Explain to your child that they are going to be creating a similar piece of artwork using 2D shapes that they can find around their home. Below I have put an example of what shapes I found in my home.
The shapes need to overlap to create a single shape with no gaps like the example below:
Once your child has completed drawing around the shapes they need to find different media to fill in each shape (the mediums you have in your home are fine even if there are only one or two). Try to get your child to use different colours and try to not let the same colours touch.
Once they are finished they need to cut around the outside of their artwork and post the final result on the blog.
