History

This Friday is a bank holiday which means normally you wouldn't be at school and mums and dads wouldn't be at work. It is VE day-  a day for people to celebrate in their homes and in their streets. In history you are going to be learning all about VE day and what it was about.

PARENTS-please check all material before you let your child see it to make sure you are happy with the content- I have tried to keep it to a Year 1 level. Also you can choose which activities you would like you child to complete from the ones below:

Many people in the war had to write messages through code called 'Morse code'. Have a go at writing secret messages to your family or friends using Morse code.

Listen to the Horrible Histories song about VE day and songs from the past. Maybe you could create your own song about VE day and why it is celebrated.

Or maybe you can practice these dances from the past :

The Lindy Hop-. https://safeyoutube.net/w/cXI7

Charleston  - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2IiIenn7qo

Lambeth Walk  - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdSvLV-EgSA

Why not decorate your home with some VE colourings?
