This week we will be completing various Koo Koo Kanga Roo dance, movement and exercise routines. Each day choose a new routine and continue to practise the routines you have already learnt the day before so by Friday you should be up to 5 dances. This will enable you to get really good and develop your fluency in all of the different moves you will be completing. Now we will practise our letter formation, use different writing resources across the week to ensure children don't become bored but maintain their interest and enthusiasm. Today focus on the letters l, t, i, u, j, y. Remember to form each letter accurately. Refer to the handwriting ditty sheet to help you.

Reading Challenge: . Now ask your child to apply the sound of the day into reading a sentence; I am up high when I am at the top of the hill.
Writing Challenge: Now ask your child to write the sentence, I run, jump and skip with my knees up high. Encourage your child to start the sentence with a capital letter, after they sound out and record each word remind them to leave a finger space before starting to write the next word. Finally remind them to finish the sentence with a full stop.
Remember to practise your reading at least three times a week by either reading your book in your book bag or logging onto Reading Buddy. Develop your fluency by re-reading the same text a number of times. Practise makes perfect! Today, choose your own book.
Also remember to practise the words in your high frequency word wallet so you don't forget them. The words you are able to recognise in your wallet should now be read accurately when you are reading a text. Each week we will focus on new words to build up the breadth of words you able to recognise. This week please practise the following words; get, just, now, came, oh, when, got. They can be written on paper and added to your word wallet. If children are still learning previous sets of words, continue to practise the other words then introduce this set as and when they are ready.
MATHEMATICS: SHAPE SPACE AND MEASURE
Listen to the story of The Teeny Weeny Tadpole, discussing the changes that happen to the tadpole over time. Talk about how the tadpole meets different characters over a number of days; show where this reference to time occurs in the book. Compare pictures of the tadpole at different stages of the story. Look at the approximate mid-point of the tadpole's development and ask the children to comment on his appearance. Ask: What does the teeny weeny tadpole look like now? What does he have that he didn't have before? (legs) What did the tadpole look like before he had legs? (different colour, with gills) what will he look like after? (green, long legs, no tail).

Now that the children know all of the sounds of the letters of the alphabet they should now learn the names of these letters. To familiarise the children with the names, sing the traditional rhyme A, B, C, D ... or Boom shake the alphabet (link below). Then focus on a few of the letters each day. Teach your child the name of the letter whilst also checking that they continue to recall the accurate sound of the letter too. Write the letters on pieces of paper and continue to practise the letter names already learnt this can be done by shuffling the pack of letters so they are in a random order. When we return to school the children will be assessed on their knowledge of the names of the letters of the alphabet in a random order.
