Miss Yeomans' message 10.6.2020

My message about your learning for today.

Today in maths we are still continuing to look at mathematical language but today we are going to be looking at directional words. These are words that people follow to help them to arrive at a certain place or destination.

Now you know all four direction words, the best way to test your knowledge is to use the directional words.  I want you to direct someone in your house from one place to another. It could be from the kitchen to the bedroom or from inside the house to outside the house. You can even have a treasure at the end!

Make sure to write down your instructions either as you go along or before you start directing your person. I want to see your instructions on the blog or you can email the instructions or even a video of the instructions being carried out to

If you follow this link the session will be uploaded and you can choose the sound and the spelling session you need. There should be a new video released today at the normal time of 10.30. Follow the link below:

There is going to be a video uploaded one sound per day (which is a recap of sounds taught) and this video will be available for 24 hours. Please bear with me as I also try to navigate this new way of the sound videos being uploaded.

Today in english you are going to be revisiting the The Three Billy Goats Gruff story. You will be thinking about questions including question words and question marks. You will be practising how to spell question words and how to form a question mark. You will then write a question for the Little Goat and a reply from the troll. Rather than printing the sheets, I would like you to practise the spellings without the printed paper and to draw the Little Goat and Troll for the question and the reply.

I thought today that you could look at plants and plant parts as so many of you have been in the garden looking after and planting your own plants. Follow the links below for the learning part of the task.

Now that you know about the different types of plants and the parts of a plant. Have a go at the scavenger sheet below. How many can you spot on your walk?

They are all plants on the sheet.

The colourful parts of a plant is called the flower.

Now that you know all about plant parts I would like you to create a leaf compass. Leaf compasses are great for if you need to find North and you don't have a compass.

For this activity you will need:

- a leaf

- a needle

-cup of water

  1. Get a cup of water.
  2. Get a leaf.
  3. Place the leaf on top of the water.
  4. Get a needle and rub the needle on your clothing for a few minutes.
  5. Place the needle on the leaf.
  6. Watch as the leaf spins.
  7. The way the needle points is North.
