Week One 19.04.21 Rumble in the Jungle
Hi everybody and welcome back to the beginning of this Summer Term. We hope you had a good Easter break and are ready and raring for your final term in Reception... hasn't the time flown by?
This term, our new topic is called 'Rumble in the Jungle' and will be taking us to tropical rainforests and thick undergrowth all over the world. We will be finding out what jungles are, where we find them, what animals and plants live there and how humans need to protect them. We have the most enormous pile of Jungle-themed books in our classroom to support this topic, including stories, non-fiction books and poems, alongside our six weekly texts. We also have the coolest base-camp role play set up in the classroom to really help bring our learning to life!
Our focus texts for this topic will be:
- Rumble in the Jungle by Giles Andreae
- Night Monkey, Day Monkey by Julia Donaldson
- The Parrot Tico Tango by Anne Witte
- The Selfish Crocodile by Faustin Charles
- A Week of Tiger-Themed Texts (The Loudest Roar! I Don't Want to Go to Bed! Midnight Tiger)
- Lottie's Letter by Gordon Snell
Below you will find information on the learning we will be engaging with this week in class. If you are self-isolating or unable to attend school, we ask that you utilise these resources to support you to deliver learning at home. If you are self-isolating, a member of staff will contact you to support you with this as we will no longer be creating weekly videos once school reopens. Below you will also find the Home Learning for children to complete at home this week.
