Week Six 24.05.21 Lottie's Letter

Week Six

Welcome to the final week of this half term and the final week of our 'Rumble in the Jungle' topic. What a fabulous half term it has been! We have learnt so much about jungles and the children have made so much progress and had so much fun in their learning. They have continued to amaze us every day, well done Reception!

For this final week of the topic, we will be focusing on the book 'Lottie's Letter' by Gordon Snell. In this story, Lottie is saddened to find out about the ways in which human actions are endangering animals all over the world and so she decides to write a letter to the Queen of the World, to encourage humans to make better choices. This book allows us to take all of the things we have learnt about the majestic jungles and rainforests in our world and use this to help us understand how important it is for people to protect them. We will be finding out about deforestation, palm oil and human development on jungle land. We will be finding out how we can make choices in our own lives to protect jungles and the animals who live within them. You can explore the story below:

Alongside Lottie's Letter, we will also be exploring the book 'The Great Kapok Tree' by Lynne Cherry and 'There's a Rang-tan in My Bedroom' by James Sellick, which can both be found below:

Below you will find information on the learning we will be engaging with this week in class. If you are self-isolating or unable to attend school, we ask that you utilise these resources to support you to deliver learning at home. If you are self-isolating, a member of staff will contact you to support you with this as we will no longer be creating weekly videos once school reopens. Below you will also find the Home Learning for children to complete at home this week.
