Homework:

It's the last week already?!?!

Here are some activities for you to look at over this week AND the week we are not in school.

As always - please do not feel the need to complete all of them, some are relating to this terms unit of work (ST1) as well as next term (ST2).

Mathletics has been assigned for 'multiplication and division' for this term :)

Design and Technology

We have been making puppets in D&T (specifically glove puppets which we will aim to finish after half term break), but in the meantime it would be great for you to try and make some other kinds of puppets at home with materials you might already have!

  • Sock puppet (use a sock, buttons, felt or paper for features) - I'm sure we all have a spare sock lying around!
  • Paper puppet (draw, cut out and stick onto a lolly stick). - an easier option
  • Finger puppet (cut out felt/paper and glue/stitch together) - similar to what we did in class

Challenge: Write a short sentence explaining their puppet’s name and story, what they used etc.

Extension: Perform a mini puppet show at home and take a picture or draw their puppet in action.

Computing: Algorithm Challenge

We have also been learning about algorithms in computing and giving our Beebots sets of instructions to follow. It would be great if you could make a set of real-life instructions!

Task: Write a simple set of instructions (algorithm) to complete an everyday task such as:

  • Brushing your teeth
  • Making a sandwich
  • Getting ready for school

Steps:

  1. Write the instructions in order (e.g., "1. Pick up the toothbrush, on it...").
  2. Draw a picture for each step.

Challenge: Ask a family member to follow their algorithm exactly—did it work? What would they change?

Next term, our focus will be Africa (geography, art, reading) so it would be great if you could find out as much as you can about Africa and create a fact file! E.g. What is life like in Africa? What animals live there? How are people different?

Here is some help (example factfile):

I hope you all have a wonderful & relaxing half term break - if there is any issues, please drop me a message/email, I'm always happy to help.
