Nursery

School Closure 10th December 2024.

One of the books we will read this week, is a story all about a beaver who saved Christmas, written by Will Millard and Jo Lindley. After a storm, in the village Elin lives with her Grandad, tinsel clings to the trees, wrapping paper has been blown down the hill and a baby beaver gets trapped in the lights. Inspired to keep the Beavers' home safe and rubbish-free, Elin's village comes together to clean the broken Christmas decorations away, giving the beaver and each other the happiest Christmas ever.

Below you will find some ideas that you could do today, to keep you busy.

Get Creative

Can you make a decoration for our tree in Nursery? We would love to see your creations and add them to our tree tomorrow.

Perhaps you would like to decorate some paper and make your own wrapping paper or now that you have some extra time, make a special Christmas card for a family member.

Reading

Get your reading bags and snuggle down under a blanket with your morning drinks and snacks. On Christmas Eve, children in Iceland take part in a Christmas tradition known as Jólabókaflóðið. The children snuggle down and read books gifted to them by their family and friends. How many books can you read today?

Show

Can you put on a show for your family? How many of your rhymes from your rhyme pack are you able to sing and perform to them?

Being kind and helpful

Elin's village cleaned up to give the beavers and the villagers the happiest Christmas ever. Perhaps you could tidy your room so you are ready for Christmas? Do you have any toys you no longer use that you could sort and donate to charity? How could you help your family today?

Mathematics

Can you count to 5? 10? or even 20?

Can you recognise numerals to 5? If you can, extend yourself to 10.

Can you count out amounts accurately?

Write down numbers to 5 or 10 and cut them out to make a pack of numbers. Then accurately count out amounts to match the numerals. This could be pencils, cars, beads, whatever counting resources you have at home.

Phonics

Can you clap out the syllables (beats) in your name? How many syllables are in your name? Can you clap out the names of the people in your family? Look around the room and clap out the words of some of the things that you can see?
