Heatwave update
Fri 15 Jul 2022HEATWAVE UPDATE
In light of the extreme temperatures forecast for Monday and Tuesday, we have updated and reshared our risk assessment with staff to try and keep the temperatures as cool as we can. Some of our measures:
· Uniform rules relaxed—pupils can attend school in shorts and t-shirts. However, please do not wear flip flops as this would be dangerous.
· Please apply factor 50+ sunscreen to your children before school and please send them with a sun hat and plenty of drinks. Water bottles can refilled throughout the day.
· We will make use of shady areas (such as forest school) and the cooler indoor areas—such as the Hall and Sebright Room.
· Morning break will be extended and lunchtime will be shortened. This will reduce the time that the children are outside at the hottest times of the day.
· PE will not take place on Monday or Tuesday after 10am (if at all, staff will risk assess on the day)
· Staff briefed on heat stress symptoms in children.
· Making use of digital thermometers, roof vents, blinds and other ventilation, to control the indoor temperatures.
· Curtail heat generating activities (electrical items or physical exertion)

Transition update
Fri 08 Jul 2022Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th July—Please drop your child/children off at their new (September 2022) classroom door. Their new classteacher will be there to greet them.
The website calendar for Monday and Tuesday (transition days) is incorrect and we are unable to update it at this time due to a technical issue. There are no PE sessions for any year group on Monday or Tuesday and no Forest School for current Nursery on Monday morning or current Reception on Tuesday afternoon.
New Reception (September 2022) have a Forest School session on Tuesday afternoon. We will attempt to update the calendar over the weekend. Many thanks. -

Swimming
Tue 26 Apr 2022Over the next day or two, we will be relocating and refilling the pool. We should be ready to start lessons on Tuesday 3rd May. The calendar has been updated for this week.
Next week's swimming will be uploaded to the calendar over the weekend. We will contact parents that have paid for after school lessons with catch-up dates for those missed this week.

Urgent update - Swimming delayed
Sun 24 Apr 2022Unfortunately, we are unable to start the swimming sessions as planned tomorrow. Despite our best efforts it is not yet ready to swim in. We hope that we can begin on Thursday* this week. Any sessions timetabled for this Monday-Wednesday* will now take place in the last week before half term. If you have paid for lessons after school (Nursery and additional small group sessions), these will also be caught up in the final week.
We are so sorry for the delay, but we cannot swim unless the pool is up to temperature and the chemical levels are correct. We'll keep you updated and will know more about an exact start day tomorrow.*It is a possibility that we can start on Wednesday, so we have left Wednesday's sessions on the website calendar for now.

Jubilee Competition
Fri 08 Apr 2022We were very impressed by all of the fantastic entries that we received. The competition was judged by our Chair of Governors, Mrs Berry, who chose Benjamin Fellows (Yr 1) as the winner. Ben has designed a wooden bench, in the shape of a crown. This will now be made and will be placed in the new ‘Jubilee Gardens’, the area next to our new outdoor classroom.
