  • Thursday 19th March

    Thu 19 Mar 2020

We are still awaiting the list of key workers.  We kindly ask that you do not call the office - we will contact you when we have firm details.

If you are already self-isolating or social distancing, then you can access work for your children via our online providers such as Mathletics and Education City.  There are also a number of links to free websites on our Home Learning page on the website.  Our website is currently experiencing unprecedented levels of traffic and you may experience some delay.  We have been assured by PrimarySite that they are working hard to increase capacity.

Tomorrow will be the last day at school for most of our pupils and unfortunately we have no idea when they will be back.  The teachers were keen to break up on a positive note so, tomorrow, the pupils can come to school in their own clothes and we will spend the day showing the children how we plan to set work for them over the next couple of weeks.  We will also be teaching them some games and activities that they will be able to play to keep themselves entertained.

    Many thanks

    Mrs Crisp

  • Wednesday 18th March COVID-19 update

    Wed 18 Mar 2020

To aid social distancing measures we have made some alterations to the day-to-day running of the school.

    • All meetings with parents are cancelled (these will take place by telephone if staff are available)
    • All trips, visits and sporting fixtures are cancelled
    • All external lettings are cancelled

We are also asking that parents do not enter the building when dropping off or collecting their children.  Any parents that fall into the 'vulnerable' category are advised to keep at a safe distance at drop off and pick up time.  Please contact Mrs Crisp directly if you are concerned about this.

Many of our families are self-isolating and some have chosen to follow the social distancing advice.  School supports parents decision to keep their children at home if they choose to do this, particularly where family members fall into the vulnerable category.

If children start to show symptoms in school they will be sent home.

We have no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Cookley School at the time of writing.

Again, thank you for your support.

  • Tuesday 17th March daily COVID-19 update

    Tue 17 Mar 2020

Following the Prime Minister's announcement yesterday we are asking that:

    1.  If you OR any of your household are presenting with symptoms of COVID-19 (new, dry, persistent cough and/or a high temperature) then the household should self-isolate for 14 days (it is likely that people living within a household will infect each other or be infected already. Staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community)
    2. If a child becomes unwell in school with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature they will be sent home and advised to follow the staying at home guidance
    3. Families that are self-isolating should use our home learning platforms (Mathletics, Education City, Tackling Tables, Reading Buddy) to access work for the children.  You will find the links on our website under 'Children' > 'Home Learning'.  To limit screen time, we would ask you to encourage your children to read books as much as possible.
  • New COVID-19 update page

    Mon 16 Mar 2020

We have addded two new pages to our website today due to the rapidly developing situation with regard to Coronavirus.

COVID-19 updates under 'News and Events'.  This page will be updated as we get information in school.

Home learning under 'Children'.  This page will be used by the class teachers if we have to close.

  • COVID-19

    Mon 16 Mar 2020

As you are aware, the government’s guidance on the coronavirus has changed from the ‘contain’ phase to one of delaying the spread of the virus. We are getting in touch to let you know what we are doing in light of this, and what we expect from all of you, to help make sure our school community keeps safe.

    What’s the current situation?

    • The school remains open – this is the current official guidance we have been given
    • All school functions continue to run as normal including breakfast and after school clubs
    • Pupils should attend unless they feel unwell – if your child has any of the following symptoms they should remain at home for 7 days:
    • a new, continuous cough and/or
    • a temperature
    • If your child is unwell, report this as you would normally by calling the school office, via the Gateway or our Facebook page message service.  You must make the decision with regard to whether to attend or not – school cannot make this decision.
    • The residential trip to France (planned for this week) has been cancelled
    • We’ll keep you up to date with any changes to the current situation
